Heat Wave Expected July 11 – July 13

Date Posted: Tuesday, July 11th, 2017

It’s a heat wave this week in Fenwick Island!

Avoid heat exhaustion (symptoms include dizziness, headache, sweaty skin, weakness, cramps, nausea/vomiting, and a fast heart beat) and heat stroke (symptoms include red/hot/dry skin, high temperature, confusion, convulsions, and fainting) by staying safe and healthy with water, rest, shade.

If you are working outside, make sure to drink plenty of water (even if you aren’t thirsty), rest in the shade, and wear hats and light-colored clothing.

Avoid staying out in the sun during the hottest times of the day (between 11AM – 3PM).  If you are at the beach, make sure to stay under the umbrella.  Or you can always stay indoors and shop or eat at one of the local Fenwick Island establishments instead!

And check on your neighbors and family, especially children & the elderly.  Don’t forget your pets too – make sure they have shade and fresh water.  Do not leave children or pets in vehicles!
