Delmarva Power Fenwick Island Reliability Project Update

Planned Overnight Power Outages – Delmarva Power Reliability Improvements

Delmarva Power is nearing the final stages of its electric reliability improvement project in Fenwick Island, with work expected to be completed within the next two weeks. These upgrades are designed to improve system capacity, strengthen reliability, reduce outages, and enhance power-routing capabilities for residents and businesses.

As part of the final transition to the new power lines, approximately 50 commercial and residential customers will experience brief planned power interruptions. Most affected customers are located on the southbound side of Coastal Highway and are served by the roadside circuit. Most side street customers are not expected to be impacted.

Scheduled Work:
Thursday, May 28 beginning at 11:00 p.m. through Friday, May 29 at approximately 6:00 a.m.

Expected Outage Duration:
Most outages are expected to last less than one hour.

Delmarva Power representatives are personally contacting affected businesses and coordinating outreach efforts with impacted residents, businesses, and community organizations. Automated phone notifications will also be issued to impacted residences and condominiums.

These important upgrades are part of Delmarva Power’s continued commitment to providing a safer, stronger, and more resilient electric system for the Fenwick Island community for years to come.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as this important project nears completion. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.

Bulk Trash Collection | May 2026

The 2026 Bulk Trash Collection is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26; Wednesday, May 27; and Thursday, May 28.

It has been our experience that many residents will take this opportunity to clean garages and yards, while others will gather the attic treasures that have accumulated over the years and are now expendable. Most, if not all these items, can be placed out for the regular trash pick-ups throughout the summer, which will expedite the removal of the larger and heavier items in a timely manner.

Absolutely no yard waste of any kind will be picked up on bulk trash pickup day. These items are excluded. (i.e. limbs, leaves, branches, stumps).

NOTE: Bulk trash has exclusions – yard waste and hazardous materials (i.e., paints, batteries, gas, oil, etc.). Please put your bulk trash items out before 10pm on the second day of bulk trash pick-up. Items placed out on the final day will not be guaranteed pick-up.

Note that hazardous waste will not be picked up by the Town. Please contact

Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) about their drop-off facility.
