Town of Fenwick Island

Corporal Nathan Hudson Lifesaving Commendation Award

Cpl. Hudson Award Cpl. Hudson AwardCpl. Nathan Hudson of our FIPD received a commendation from the Town of Fenwick Island at the last Town Council meeting for his actions in responding to a call for a CPR in progress on Houston Street.
At around 6 pm on a Saturday evening, Cpl. Hudson quickly responded to the call with an AED, administered rescue breaths and chest compressions as well as deploying the AED. The BBFD responded and the man who suffered the cardiac arrest was transported to Beebe where his cardiac blockage was successfully treated. The man who suffered the medical emergency has now been discharged to home.
During the ceremony, the man’s mother asked, “how do I thank someone who saved my son’s life?” The man’s wife talked about how she had lived in many countries but now she truly understood what “for the people” meant on her USA passport. There was not a dry eye in the room during the multiple standing ovations in honor of Cpl. Hudson.
Cpl. Hudson thanked everyone, including Captain Ryk from our FIBP who had trained Cpl. Hudson on using the new AED’s that had been purchased by Town Council last year.
We thank Cpl. Hudson and all those who played a role in saving the life of another. Well done sir.
