Passing of Council Member Richard Benn
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our friend and fellow Council Member, Richard Benn.
Richard, recently elected to his second term on Town Council, was a tremendous advocate for Fenwick Island. Richard lived in and served the Town for decades in various capacities before agreeing to accept the nomination to Council in 2021. Most recently, Richard chaired the Infrastructure Committee where he undertook to plan and budget road maintenance for the coming decade and oversaw the resiliency plans to mitigate bayside flooding.
The Town of Fenwick Island will be eternally grateful to Richard for his contributions, wisdom and service. Please keep Richard’s wife, Lisa, his boys and his sister, former Council Member and current Planning Commissioner, Julie Lee, in your thoughts and prayers.
Rest in peace Richard. You were a true son of Fenwick who made a positive impact on all who call this wonderful town their own.
