Join the Fenwick Island Beach Patrol at our annual Town Bonfire on Saturday July 5th between 7-10 p.m. at the Bayard Street Beach. Bring your cooler and beach chairs. There will be a DJ, silent auction (bids start at 9:00 p.m.), 50/50 raffle, games with the lifeguards for children, t-shirts for sale, and much more. Rain date will be Sunday, July 6th.
The July 5 Annual Beach Bonfire is a wonderful opportunity to have fun on the beach and enjoy the glow of the bonfire…AND also explore the “wonders of the night” by stargazing after the sun sets. Come and visit us at the DarkSky table and we will show you how to find stars and planets using SkyView Free on your smartphone – PREPARE TO BE AMAZED!
We will also share ways to preserve our ‘dark skies’ in Fenwick Island by using ‘responsible’ nighttime lighting…utilizing lights that have minimal negative impact on the environment (birds, pollinators, turtles, nocturnal animals), on human health (via light pollution at night when we sleep) and on our starry skies.
