NOTICE OF VIRTUAL HEARING FOR PUBLIC COMMENT
US Wind has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Maryland requesting authority to revise the schedule, size, pricing, and turbine selection for its offshore wind power project to be located in a federal lease area off the coast of Maryland. Notice is hereby given that a hearing for the purpose of soliciting comments from the public on US Wind’s application will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. via virtual meeting.
Any person who wishes to speak at the hearing shall send an email to kimberly.schock@maryland.gov by 12:00 noon on Friday, October 11, 2024. Organizations or other entities are strongly encouraged to coordinate and consolidate their comments in a meaningful manner in order to avoid repetitive comments, and they may indicate that they are representing other individuals in their remarks. Participants will generally be asked to speak in the order in which the Commission received the requests.
The virtual hearing will be conducted through a remote meeting platform. People who have requested to speak at the hearing will receive an email with a link to the virtual hearing in order to participate. Anyone wishing to observe the live stream of the public hearing may do so via the Commission’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/MarylandPSC).
Any person wishing to comment on this matter shall submit written comments electronically or by first-class mail by November 1, 2024. Comments submitted electronically must be submitted through the Commission’s Public Comment Dropbox, which can be accessed through the Commission’s website at www.psc.state.md.us. Instructions for logging into the Public Comment Dropbox are located under the “Tools” section of the Commission’s website under the “Make a Public Comment” tab, which can be accessed via the following link: https://www.psc.state.md.us/make-a-public-comment/. Commenters using the Public Comment Dropbox for the first-time are required to complete a one-time registration. All comments must include a reference to “Case No. 9666.” If submitted by first-class mail, comments must be addressed to Andrew S. Medical Waste Update – DNREC
MEDICAL WASTE UPDATE—DNREC arrived today and is raking our beach. Thank you DNREC!
Our Public Works has been inspecting all week and will inspect Saturday and Sunday morning as well.
DNREC is maintaining their swimming advisory, which Fenwick adopts, through Monday September 23rd and recommends no swimming or wading in the ocean. In addition, it is also recommended to use closed toe shoes when walking in the beach.
Our beach access is open but please remember our guards are no longer on duty and you should be cautious and alert when walking.
New OSW Proposal Hearing Next Week
- The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will hold a series of in-person and virtual public meetings to present plans for the construction of offshore wind turbines as close as 3.5 miles from the Ocean City MD shoreline. This proposed project would be in addition to the 114, 938ft. tall turbines 10.7 miles from the Ocean City, MD shoreline.

Fenwick Island businesses are encouraged to participate in tree planting efforts. Free soil sample test kits are available for pick up at Town Hall.
