Sad News – Dr. R. Wayne Carmean
It is with sad and heavy heart that we share the news about the passing of Dr. R. Wayne Carmean of Fenwick Island. Dr. Carmean passed away at home the morning of Wednesday, May 1. Wayne is the father of Fenwick Island Mayor, Natalie Magdeburger, and husband of former Fenwick Island Mayor Vicki Carmean. Services have been scheduled at St. Matthew’s by the Sea in Fenwick Island, on Friday, May 17 beginning with visitation at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. Contact Town Hall if you have any questions.

NOTICE OF SOLICITATION FOR CANDIDATES
FOR TOWN COUNCIL ELECTION
The Town of Fenwick Island is seeking qualified candidates wishing to serve on Town
Council. There are three (3) positions on the Town Council to be filled. Each position is for
a two (2) year term. You must be registered to vote for at least one year prior to the election
for which you seek to be nominated.
Other candidate qualifications include: a natural person who is a citizen of the United States;
age 21 on or before the date of the election; either a bona fide resident of the Town or a
property owner in the Town; and you may not have been convicted of a felony.
Filing deadline for candidates is Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 4:30 pm EST. The annual
Town Election is scheduled for Saturday, August 3, 2024. Absentee balloting is available
by filing an affidavit with the Town.

OFFSHORE WIND PUBLIC FORUM MAY 1, 2024
Delaware State Senator Hocker and Rep. Gray are hosting a public hearing on Offshore Wind next Wednesday, May 1st, at Indian River High School from 6 to 8 p.m. We are looking for a big crowd at this hearing to stop power coming ashore in Delaware and stop the “Maryland Offshore Wind” project. (Unfortunately, there will not be a virtual viewing of the hearing.)
Representatives from DNREC and US Wind will be in attendance, along with CRI’s Dave Stevenson and Geoff Pohanka, to provide testimony. However, the success of our efforts greatly depends on the strength of our collective voice.
